Brian Murphy

Actor

Brian trained at RADA and worked for many years as a member of the famous Joan Littlewood Theatre workshop company- which toured Russia, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany and America.

Brian has played in the West End with Oh What a Lovely War, The Hostage, When we are married, Run for Your Wife, The Invisible Man and many other long runs.

His many film appearances include Sparrows Can’t sing, The Devils, The Boyfriend, Diary of a Nobody.

Brian jumped to fame as George Roper, first in Man about the House, then the spin off George and Mildred- for which he won a variety club award.

His other television credits include: The Café, Catherine Tate Show, eight years playing Alvin in Last of Summer Wine, Benidorm, Booze Cruise and One Foot in the grave and recently The Cafe.

Brian was nominated for a BAFTA for his performance of Old Mother Riley in On Your Way Riley.

Recently he appeared in the film Run for your Wife with his real wife Linda, they also played husband and wife together in a film about the war- Blitz and Bananas.
Brian and Linda met twenty three years ago playing husband and wife in Wife begins at Forty. They fell in love and made it official by getting married for real.
